Telco Systems Offers DPoE™-tested Ethernet Demarcation Solution

Solution provides flexible option for MSO to deliver commercial Ethernet services

MANSFIELD, MA – April 5, 2011 - Telco Systems, a BATM company (LSE: BVC) and provider of multi-service Carrier Ethernet access and demarcation solutions, has tested the Company’s Ethernet demarcation device against the DPoE™ 1.0 specifications as defined by CableLabs®. The solution enables providers to offer commercial services and wireless backhaul over EPON with advanced OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) mechanisms using their DOCSIS® back office.

The DPoE 1.0 specification can reduce the time needed to deploy EPON technology by enabling the cable provider to use their existing DOCSIS provisioning system and processes. Using these systems, cable operators can deliver both IP and Ethernet based services with DPoE compliant products using an EPON SFP and Telco Systems’ demarcation device.

"By incorporating an EPON SFP with Telco Systems’ MEF-certified T-Marc Ethernet demarcation device, providers can expand their service offering to businesses, schools, hospitals, utilities, mobile operators and government offices over an EPON network," stated Irit Gillath, Director of Product Marketing at Telco Systems. "Standardized Ethernet OAM capabilities in the T-Marc enable providers to support service assured Ethernet services on a customer-by-customer basis, further differentiating their offering."

Telco Systems participated in a DPoE interoperability testing event at CableLabs with a variety of OLT manufacturers. The event exhibited a high level of interoperability which focused on PON-layer registration, provisioning, and operational systems support interfaces (OSSI) to enable providers to choose the best of breed solution for their network.
