Layer3 Routing Functionality as a Service


Telco Systems’ vRouter (virtual router) application provides Layer3 routing functionality as a service at the service provider network edge. vRouter, part of the Telco Systems’ CloudMetro distributed network function virtualization (D-NFV) product family applications enables to quickly deliver the required routing functionality by business customers and eliminate the need to deploy additional hardware at the customer premises.

Telco Systems’ vRouter application enables service providers to offer business customers with Layer3 routing functionality as-a-services. Through the CloudMetro centralized orchestration, vRouter is deployed quickly and on-demand making customer hardware installation and on-premises technicians redundant.

CloudMetro’s vRouter only requires the deployment of the NFV based edge device, unlike existing methodologies requiring the deployment both the switches at the provider’s edge and routers at the customer premises. vRouter provides service providers greater flexibility in service design, and enabling cost-savings related to hardware and operations.

Routing  Static routes, equal-cost multipath routing, BGPv4, OSPF, OSPFv3 (currently not full support), RIP, RIPng, route redistribution   
Routing policies  Access-lists, prefix-lists, as-path-lists, community-lists, and route maps for both IPv4 and IPv6 (currently they are used for dynamic routing control, not PBR)   
NAT  Source, destination, or masquerade address translation based on traffic source, destination, port or protocol. Translation can be one-to-one as well as one-to-many or many-to-one   
DHCP  Server and relay for IPv4   
DNS  Caching DNS server   
With the CloudMetro distributed NFV, service providers optimize their network and service offering to their customer by applying the optimal deployment location of vRouter at demarcation or aggregation per end-customer use case.
